We all lose track of time at some point and need to get something quick. After seeing our fast food bill skyrocket and my waist expand, it was time to to find options.
In the past we have picked up the quick meal at the store that included the pre-cooked roast by hormel or tyson. I came to realize why aren't we using this option more often? If we buy 2 packages of the pre-cooked meat, which I must say are very tasty, fresh cauliflower steamed in the new ziplock steam bags, and mashed potatoes or the uncle ben 90 second rice. Fresh strawberries topped with fresh whipped cream (heavy whipping cream in a blender with sugar or favorite sweetener) make fore a great dessert. All this is around $23. Its quick, easy, and far healthier than fast food that runs about $35 just for 3 of us if you include dessert. Drinks are taken care of at home with milk, water, or my favorite, V8 splash peach and mango. In the end that is nearly $50 savings a month since we eat out at least once a week, nearly $600 a year. That is $600 I can put in savings for vacation.
What do you do in a pinch and how do you save doing it?
